“I’ve tried everything,” Drew the Drug Dealer said. He said it with an easy laugh on his lips and a seriousness in his eyes that fully communicated how important drugs were in the world that he’d created for himself.

“What was your favorite?” I smiled back, limbs loose and comfortable in the scruffy dining chair he’d placed across from his well-worn leather loveseat and the filthy coffee table. A fan heater was blasting loudly yet efficiently behind me, and I was enjoying Drew’s Kiwi-style company: honest, friendly, and fearlessly dark.
